Gregory Gummersall

From an 80-acre ranch near Durango, Colorado, C. Greg Gummersall paints large-scale, intricate works of layered markings that recall adrenaline-filled graffiti. In the tradition of Cy Twombly, Jasper Johns, and Richard Diebenkorn, Gummersall’s calligraphic brushstrokes suggest signs and meanings that can never be grasped fully, while his use of collage generate a sense of memory in the canvases. Exhibited across the US and in Europe and Asia, the paintings are collected in many private, corporate, and public collections, including Toyota, Pacific Bank, Federal Reserve Bank Chicago, Fordham University Museum, Lincoln Center, Palm Springs Art Museum, and Tucson Museum of Art.
