JRB ART at The Elms will feature two artists who currently live and work in Marfa, Texas for its March exhibit; which opens during the Paseo District’s First Friday Gallery Walk on March 6, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.  Works by these artists: Megan Gerety and Jessica Lutz, will be on view at The Elms until the 28th of March.  Dr. Natalie Roncone, the Director of Marfa Contemporary is the guest curator for the exhibition.

Mixed media artist Meghan Gerety was born in New Haven, Ct and earned her Bachelor of Art degree from Barnard College after attending Atelier Clouet in Paris.  Her work has been shown internationally and can be found in both private and corporate collections.  Gerety frequently uses the image of the tree as a reference point for human interaction with nature, as trees inhabit a space been human and architectural scale. Inspired by Eastern philosophy her works are rooted in minimalism and abstraction.

A native of Texas, Jessica Lutz lived in New York City for 13 years.  Initially a student of anthropology, she worked at the National Geographic Society and traveled extensively to the Amazon, Belize, Europe, Mexico, and throughout India. She recently moved back to West Texas attracted by the play of light and dark, the raw landscape, and the heartiness of the people. She often documents life in the Chihuahuan Desert on both sides of the border. She presents life on the desert as raw but not without its own wild beauty.  Lutz recently completed a project for the Texas Tribune photographing 200 miles of the disappearing Rio Grande.  Her work as been widely exhibited on both coasts and has been featured in the New York Times, Texas Monthly, and Black and White Magazine.

A Jackson Pollock scholar, curator Natalie Roncone, received her Ph.D. in art history from St. Andrews in Scotland.  She has worked for the Guggenheim Museum in both New York and Bilbao, Spain before accepting the position as Director of Marfa Contemporary.
