Oklahoman Sam Echols, who has been creating deeply hued expression-FIlled portraits since studying under the
mentorship of revered Oklahoma artist Richard Goetz at the New York Arts Students League. The artist works in oils in what has been described as a loose, impressionistic fashion. “Color and its value is an important part and relationship to capture the character of an individual. I’m concerned about capturing the feeling of an individual, and consideration of the background color is an important part of my composition, as well,” Echols said.
