PRESS RELEASE
Marjorie Atwood “Stories of Love and Longing”
OKLAHOMA CITY – JRB ART at The Elms welcomes its fall season with, “Stories of Love and Longing,” paintings by contemporary artist, Marjorie Atwood. This is the third and final exhibition in a series of shows the gallery has presented about women: The first being Rebecca Wheeler’s “Woman Revealed,” the second Janice Matthews-Gordon’s “All My Sisters.” Marjorie Atwood’s exhibit “Stories of Love and Longing,” will open on September 6, 2019. Noted for her signature use of gold and silver backgrounds and exceptional use of pattern, in “Stories of Love and Longing,” Marjorie incorporates the female figure in various forms representing the mythical and contemporary woman in various states of existence.
Also, on exhibit and the Gallery in September will be the carved stone and wood sculptures of Tim Cooper. In his show, “Encircled,” Tim explores his fascination with the cyclical, orbital nature of things. “From atoms to planet, music to history we are surrounded by churning circles. My looped sculptural forms explore these infinite cycles in sweeping gentle curves. They are designed to convey a fragility that is strengthened by the constant and unbroken support of the cyclical construction,” says Cooper when discussing his work.
