OKLAHOMA CITY – An opening reception will be held for Behnaz Sohrabian and Stella Thomas from 6-10 pm, Feb. 2 during the Paseo Arts District’s First Friday Gallery Walk. The exhibitions will be on view through Sunday, Feb 25. The exhibit, opening reception and artist talks are free to the public, as a part of JRB Art at the Elms’ Beyond Art Series.
A perennial favorite of JRB Art, Behnaz Sohrabian, whose colorful lush figures and abstracts never fail to please, is presenting still-life, portraits of women and abstract paintings that are beautifully appealing. Behnaz was born and raised in Tehran, Iran, where she started painting as a small child. Her passion for art drove her to complete Bachelor Degrees in Art and Applied Chemistry and a Master’s Degree in Art Studies. She moved to Oklahoma as a young woman to be near her family. When asked to describe her work Behnaz comments: “My work is about me, my life---about being a woman.” Behnaz paints with depth, power and passion.
Malaysian Fashion and Jewelry Designer, Stella Thomas attended the Paris American Fashion Academy in Kuala Lumpur graduating first in her class and winning a scholarship to study in Paris. She has since lived in the US and Thailand working with several couture designers and creating unique pieces for celebrities, diplomates, pageant contestants and members of the royal families in Malaysia and Thailand. She finds inspiration for her fashion in nature and her travels. She starts with the raw materials, beautiful fabrics, natural stones, horn, and gemstones. With these materials, she creates one of a kind jewelry and apparel pieces.

March 2nd, JRB Art at the Elms presents Haley Prestifilippo exhibit of evocative drawings. Janice Mathews- Gordon and Carlos Trello will having exhibitions opening April 6th.
