One of this month's featured artists is Karen Mosbacher. Her current exhibit, “I Paint Music – Music for Your Eyes” consist of three different “ bodies of work: “I Paint Music,” “All That Jazz,” and “Notes of Spring.”

A synesthetic painter, Mosbacher is known for the colorful abstract expressionistic qualities of her work. Those who experience synesthesia often see colors, feel sounds, and taste shapes. Mosbacher sees colors and shapes when she hears music.

Brett Weston, the son of famed photographer Edward Weston, was born on December 16, 1911 and died on January 22, 1993. No photographer in the history of the medium has been as involved with the natural landscape over as long a period as he. From earliest examples of his photography, beginning in the mid-1920s, and ending with the last photographs he made in 1993, it is evident that Weston’s vision was unique and consistent.

JRB Art at The Elms, along with many other galleries in The Paseo, have their inventory posted and available for purchase online and are currently offering some sort of delivery special. We are offering free delivery or pick up to clients in the greater Oklahoma City area and Free Shipping for all our clients who live elsewhere. At the restaurants in The Paseo are still preparing wonderful food for us to eat. All you must do is place an order and pick it up!

Oklahoma City - On March 6, 2020, during The Paseo’s First Friday Gallery Art Walk, JRB Art at The Elms will host an Exhibition Opening for two extraordinary artists: Karen Mosbacher, who  will be exhibiting three sets of paintings entitled: “I Paint Music—Music for Your Eyes” in the Main Gallery, and George Bogart (1933 - 2005), Professor Emeritus of the University of Oklahoma, will be exhibiting a collection of paintings entitled, “Inside Outside” in the iconic Ship Gallery.

Both exhibitions will run through April 25th.

First Friday reception: A reception was held at JRB Art at the Elms recently and Joy Reed Belt was hostess for the Paseo's First Friday opening featuring the paintings, drawings and sculptures of D.J. Lafon. The works from Lafon’s estate were recently acquired by the gallery. The selections displayed were “Business Man,” “Farm,” “Portrait” and “Political,” all from several series of paintings from the artist who died in 2011.

"Art & Legacy of D.J. Lafon" Panel Discussion, 2 pm, Saturday, February 8, 2020

In honor of D.J. Lafon, JRB Art at the Elms is hosting a panel discussion of his life with Architect - Alan Lafon, D. J. Lafon's son, Attorney and Author - Kent Frates, and Photo Journalist and Artist - J. Don Cook.  They will discuss their personal ad professional relationships with the late artist (1929-2011). 

Kent Frates and Lafon worked together on the book, "The Captain and His Crew," a poem written by Frates and illustrated by Lafon.  Signed copies of this book will be available for purchase. 

You won't want to miss this event!  Saturday, Feb 8th at 2 pm.

A superb show at JRB Art at The Elms, 2810 N Walker, reflects the gallery’s recent acquisition of “all remaining works” in his estate.
