Matt Seikel, a native of Oklahoma, attended Casady School as well as the Classen School of Advanced Studies before enrolling in the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Seikel’s widely collected hand thrown and coiled vessels are at once traditional and modern, organic and stylized. He is constantly experimenting with glazes and other innovative finishes. He creates thrown and hand built pieces and works in both clay and porcelain. All of his work is handmade and painted. No molds or stencils are used. Each object is truly one of a kind. For his recent show, Matt incorporated new and unique splashes of color and textural glazes. He and his wife and fellow artist, Denise Duong, work out of their resident studio in Oklahoma City.
