Denise Duong, born in Oklahoma City to Vietnamese refugee parents, has a long-standing relationship with our gallery, showcasing her evolution as an artist. Denise studied at the University of Central Oklahoma before furthering her education at the Art Institute of Chicago. Her passion for art extends beyond her studio work; she is also known for her stunning murals, which contribute significantly to Oklahoma City’s Public Art Collection. Since childhood, Denise has nurtured her nomadic spirit, crafting imagined worlds from paper, paint, scissors, and ink. Her richly hued, hyper-detailed collages narrate enigmatic adventures of love and life. As she eloquently expresses, “I have a deep love for nature, adventure, exploration, and working with my hands. These things influence everything I do. Using different textures, different materials, and processes entertain me. People entertain me. The world entertains me, and thankfully, I entertain myself.”
