JRB Art at the Elms is pleased to present four concurrent shows at its Fall Opening on September 5, 2025. The featured artists include multimedia artist Karam Cheong, contemporary impressionist painter Kay Kuykendall, primitive Southwest artist Jim Keffer, and pop realism artist Elizabeth Hahn. Opening September 5, from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm, the show will run through November 1, 2025. This exhibition brings together four artists whose voices joyfully express artistic tradition, exploration and innovation.
Karam Cheong explores the dialogue between light and shadow, fragility and resilience in the form of 3-D paintings. Through layered processes that include cracked surfaces of oil and wax, piped textures of acrylic and molding paste, coiled strips of acrylic, and web-like structures drawn with a 3D pen, Cheong creates forms that filter light and cast shadows integral to the compositions. What emerges is a vision of harmony between humanity and nature, where intention and beauty are found even in imperfection.
In her first public exhibition,
Kay Kuykendall introduces a series of paintings inspired by her lifelong love of headwear. Working primarily in oils on board from her Grandmark penthouse studio, Kuykendall draws upon gardens, beach scenes, and travels through Europe. Her portraits are infused with color, vitality, and joy. Influenced by her three favorite artists Van Gogh, Lautrec and Morisot, Kay’s work makes us happy.
Jim Keffer, a self-taught artist, paints contemporary primitive landscapes found in the American West. His use of acrylic over a red underpainting creates compositions that capture both the land’s heat and its spirit, evoking places of nature and of the heart. Represented in galleries across the Southwest, Keffer brings a grounded and earthy perspective to the exhibition.
Elizabeth Hahn’s paintings are included in museum and corporate collections across the United States and abroad. Her work reflects decades of exploration into the human spirit. Hahn’s colorful stylized canvases balance technical precision with expressive depth, enriching the exhibition with a perspective that connects the southwest to a broader artistic landscape.
Together, these four artists create an exhibition that celebrates resilience, memory, and possibility. From Cheong’s delicate shadows to Kuykendall’s joyful portraits, Keffer’s earthy landscapes, and Hahn’s enduring mastery, the works invite viewers into a season of discovery, remembrance and dreams of the future to be enjoyed at JRB Art at the Elms.
