OKLAHOMA CITY - Native of California and Colorado retiree Karl Brenner spends his days painting En Plein Air. Brenners love of art began at age 11 when his parents took him to the Art Institute of Chicago. He proceeded to take art classes growing up and won an art scholarship to Stanford University. He eventually decided against a career in art and became a surgeon instead. In 1987 he returned to art after attending an art workshop by Ted Goershner. He sold his surgery practice, moved to Durango, Colorado and began painting again. He now spends his time traveling and painting, capturing the beauty of midwestern landscapes.

There is a nice interplay between the larger, looser works and smaller more focused abstract acrylics of Beth Hammack. Hammack’s “Birds Utopia” show of paintings is on view through May 31 at JRB Art at The Elms gallery, 2810 N Walker.

OKLAHOMA CITY – An opening reception will be held for two shows, a solo show featuring abstract painter Beth Hammack and a group show featuring fourteen faculty members from the University of Oklahoma School of Visual Arts (SoVA), from 6-10pm, May 3^rd during the Paseo Arts District’s First Friday Gallery Walk. The exhibitions will be on display until May 31^st.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Recognizing February as the month of love, JRB Art at The Elms has assembled a collection of paintings and jewelry that you will love. Exhibitions will open Friday, February 1 at 6:00 pm during the Paseo Arts District’s monthly First Friday Gallery Walk.

OKLAHOMA CITY –  Christmas at the Elms celebrates its 15^th anniversary at JRB Art at The Elms, during the historic Paseo Arts District’s First Friday Gallery Walk. The new exhibitions open December 7^th from 6-9 pm and will be on view through Saturday, December 22^nd.  This popular holiday event will feature selected gallery artists who have created gift-able artwork especially for the season, as well as solo shows by Sohail Shehada and Stella Thomas. The exhibit, opening reception, and artist talks are free to the public, as a part of JRB Art at the Elms’ Beyond Art Series.

Recognizing art as a portal to spirituality is the theme of the November exhibit at JRB Art at the Elms. The exhibit will feature “Spirit Masks” by Diana J Smith and a group show, “The Sacred Show” organized by Patrick Riley. “The Sacred Show” features paintings, objects, and photos from six artists including; Claudia Wylie, G.L. August Loessberg, Lanny Fiegenschuh, Melodee Martin Ramirez, Marjorie Atwood and Patrick Riley

An abstract artist attempts to reflect the issues of a “Divided” country in one of three new shows at JRB Art at The Elms, 2810 N Walker. The artist is Janice Mathews-Gordon, whose acrylics are on view with mixed media paintings by Carlos Tello.

Animals seem to both inhabit and come out of clouds, waves, objects or merely swirls of graphite, in the large drawings of Haley Prestifilippo.

Prestifilippo has a show of her “Powdered Graphite” drawings, with an exhibit by Douglas Shaw Elder, at JRB Art at The Elms, 2810 N Walker.

OKLAHOMA CITY –  An opening reception will be held for two solo shows featuring Janice Mathews-Gordon and Carlos Tello in conjunction with a group show entitled “After Hours” part II from 6-10 pm, Apr 6^th during the Paseo Arts District’s First Friday Gallery Walk. The exhibitions will be on view through Sunday, Apr 29. The exhibit, opening reception and artist talks are free to the public, as a part of JRB Art at the Elms’ “Beyond Art Series”.
