JRB Art at The Elms welcomes figurative painters Sara and Shane Scribner's show, “Reverie!” and never before seen etchings from the estate of D.J. Lafon. The exhibitions open with a reception from 6 to 10 p.m. April 7 during Paseo's First Friday Gallery Walk, and run through April 30.

Norman-area artists offer choice in JRB show

An intriguing choice between nonobjective abstractions, color photos, and fantasy paintings and drawings is offered in a current show.

Showing work at JRB Art at The Elms, 2810 N Walker, are Tom Toperzer, Todd Stewart, Jason Cytacki and Haley Prestifilippo.

All are Norman-area artists with strong connections to the University of Oklahoma.

Colorful realistic-expressive paintings and stylized “aerial landscapes” contrast nicely with a relative lack of hue, in three solo exhibits.

Iranian-born artist Behnaz Sohrabian makes Oklahoma her second home

Though the move reunited Behnaz Sohrabian with her brother and sister, the Iranian-born artist felt like she touched surface of a new planet when she arrived in Oklahoma, a place she now calls her second home.

Sohrabian is one of three artists featured this month at JRB Art at The Elms, 2810 N. Walker Ave. Her exhibit, The Creator, runs through Aug. 28. John Brandenburg’s Noble Figures and Janet Massad’sDuets also are on display.

Three artists featured in August at JRB in Oklahoma City

JRB Art at The Elms will present three solo shows in August, featuring work by Behnaz Sohrabian, John Brandenburg and Janet Massad.

A dynamic field where moving rectangular shapes coexist and compete for space is found in acrylic-collages by Janice Mathews-Gordon. The summer heat is setting in, but something cool is happening at JRB Art at The Elms. Internationally acclaimed artist Billy Schenck will be at the gallery from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm Sunday for the Prix de West brunch

Schenck's work is part of the Best of The West exhibit and is featured along with Oklahoma artists Joe Andoe and Bert Seabourn.
