Review: Shows at OKC gallery offers 'Stories of Love and Longing'

Tulsa artist, Marjorie Atwood, is showing oil and resin on panel works from her “Stories of Love and Longing” series at JRB Art at The Elms, 2810 N Walker.

Showing with Atwood at JRB is Oklahoma City sculptor Tim Cooper. Cooper said the carved stone and wood works in his “Encircled” exhibit explore “his fascination with the cyclical, orbital nature of things.”

The two shows are highly recommended in their run through Sunday. Hours are from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Call 528-6336, or go to www.jrbartgallery.com for information.

Also, on exhibit in the Gallery in September will be the carved stone and wood sculptures of Tim Cooper. In his show, “Encircled,” Tim explores his fascination with the cyclical, orbital nature of things.

OKLAHOMA CITY - Longtime Oklahoma City resident and beloved artist, Rebecca Wheeler, will be exhibiting her latest collection of paintings, “Woman Revealed,” at JRB Art at The Elms in The Paseo during the month of July 2019. Recently, realizing that the strength of her work has progressed so that layers of paint give way to reoccurring images which suggest and project the essence of being a woman, Wheeler has created an entire series of female nudes.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Longtime Oklahoma City resident and beloved artist, Rebecca Wheeler, will be exhibiting her latest collection of paintings, “Woman Revealed,” at JRB Art at The Elms in The Paseo during the month of July 2019. Wheeler has spent her entire life mastering the language of paint in her unique, intuitive, gestural style. She has always focused on the human condition, particularly the human condition of being female.

An opening reception will be held from 6-9 pm on Friday, July 5, at JRB Art at The Elms during the Paseo Arts District’s monthly First Friday Gallery Walk.
